I\u2019ve seen many officers retire without ever firing their weapon, but I\u2019ve never met one who didn\u2019t have to physically control a subject at some point. If we know physical confrontation is likely, why wouldn\u2019t we prepare for it? A regular gym gives you athleticism, but not the job-specific skills you need on duty.
